A. Noboa highlights expectations of the biennale of painting - CRE Satelital

Businessman Álvaro Noboa has highlighted the great welcome that the convocation of the Biennale of Painting has had, and which has received more than 300 works from both national and international artists.
“Four years ago, I set myself the goal of honoring the memory of my father with the creation of a museum, which is now called the Luis A. Noboa Naranjo Museum. In the same way, we organized the 1st Biennale of Painting of Guayaquil in 2008 with the successful participation of 150 national painters,” he recalled.
“This year, we have surpassed all expectations, receiving more than 300 works,” added the former candidate for President of the Republic.
The works come from Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Portugal, Italy, Israel, Kosovo, Russia and Turkey.
According to Noboa, this is “a truly global painting competition for the first time in our city.”
The event has had the support of various public and private institutions which distributed information about the competition via different communication media, he explained.
He also stated that they have received backing from the Consular bodies, led by Antonio Marquez, Pedro Rizzo and the Alliance Française, together with its director, Veronik Gervais.
The qualifying jury which is to select the winners of the Biennale, together with bestowing the Honorable Mentions, as well as the paintings that will be chosen for exhibition, consists of:
Larissa Marangoni, famous sculptor M, painter, graduating from the best academic faculties; Mariela Garcias, who has been director of innumerable museums and visual arts; Alexandra Rosseti de Ryan, from Argentina, Vice-president of Sotheby’s New York; Theo Constante, famous visual artist from Ecuador; Joseph Roberts, curator from Seattle, Washington.
